In all honesty brother, its not that big. It actually looks very sick and skinny to me. I would bet he is not even #400

I had one on cam my last year on the Wacissa lease that I thought for sure would go 600. I sent pics to a guy I know thru another site who is THE bear biologist for the N Fla area. He said it MIGHT make 525ish, definitely not 600. it was much bigger than this one

Notice the amount of air between his belly and the ground. Built like a basketball player and probably a master at tearing up a feeder. He would look real good with a pack of high strung Plotts on his azz!

no bear expert here but the skull looks a little narrow. looks like a big youngster to me and could turn into a real giant if he makes it long enough.

Now we need you to go crawl around on all fours in front of the game camera for a scale reference. :)

Run into a many of them. Something is just not right with the bear. Those are the one to watch out for. A healthy one is generally no problem. Cub can be a problem.

I didn't know the Florida blacks beads got that big. I have seen a couple in ocala area and they have always been small!

The pic is deceiving. To me it looks like his coat is thin, and may be shedding for a nice thicker winter coat. I know we do not live in Alaska, but I lived there 10 years. Our bears coats always looked there best just coming out of there den in spring. Then mid summer some were gangly looking. Late season they would be at there prime big, and fat if they ate well, and there winter coats would look pristine.
Crock, I think that is a pretty good size bear probably 350 to 400 lbs. From the look of his neck size pretty stout. From here on out he wouldn't get much taller. Just fatter.

Bigger than I expected to see in Florida. Now we just have to talk them into opening up the season!

I know it has been a while since anyone posted on this topic but I was browsing through the big game thread & came across this one. I agree with Iluv2hunt in that the bear is not as big as you may think. It is does look sick and skinny and may just be a 2-3 year old bear. The second bear by Christian is defintely a nice big bear, look at how the belly hangs down, the shiny coat, and stout legs. I have attached 1 of the bears which eluded me :censored this year which was also a nice bear. Now that I know where he is, next year will be the demise of him :death .

This season was a bust bear hunting.weather sucked.way to wet dogs couldnt hold a track. did manage to run one but was small when we seen it so we pulled the dogs off it before it got ugly. big heads and small ears make me happy. Need a season here so I dont have to travel anymore
Yeah, the weather here was that warm we had a second crop of mosquitos hit us and there was a full moon the first week of the season. I have never seen that before as the bears just seemed to dry up. I had at least 12 different bears hitting my sights prior to this and we did end up bagging a couple but all the big guys lived to tell another story..here is another nice one from 1 of my other sites, I have tons of daytime pictures.

You are right, the woods are pretty nice and the bears can get pretty big. I have never seen anything except the blacks and not even sure if there are any blonde bears in Nova Scotia. I have some pretty nice pictures on my face book page if you want to check them out..Canadian Black Bear Outfitters.

You must be the first person I spoke to who actually eats bear meat. It is by far the tastiest best wild game I have eaten. As long as it is prepared properly in the field, by the butcher, and by the cooker it is awesome; otherwise, it can be pretty bad.

Cheers and safe hunting

Rob
