Glad it turned out well, but...
That was a totally unethical shot that should not have been taken, especially not with a bullet that light, at that distance, in those obvious wind conditions.

That's what I call slinging some lead down range. I am surprised that round has the ability to fold an animal that large that far out.

I'm sure the gentleman coaching her took all of those variables into consideration. I wouldn't do it either, but that particular man has forgotten more about long range shooting than we will ever know

too far for a one eyed fat man that's for sure. I believe the bullet to be too light. bad decision with a lucky outcome.

To be fair, she wasn't that young. But yes, I would say unethical with that range, target weight, and bullet weight.

Would I take that shot? Ain't no way! However, is it unethical? Ethics comes down to whether you can accurately make the shot on a regular basis to humanely harvest the animal. Obviously she was dead nuts. And we question her? Not one step, and we question her? Yeah, ok. Sit back and type away.

under those conditions of wind and range, and I don't care what she was shooting, to have a drt like that, I think the stars were aligned for her. the amount of bullet drop/ energy loss and wind drift at that range, with that wind was pretty extreme. shooting at paper/ yotes or ground hogs is one thing, but on an elk to prove a point? hope she doesn't make a habit of it. to set out elk hunting with a 243, and a camera crew? makes me wonder if it was the first one she hit/killed, or is that the only video posted.
