Time to prepare all the fishing gears for summer!!

Post by CWFAsian1129 » Wed Apr 04, 2012 10:55 pm

Hey guys, I live in Palmetto, FL which is located in Central West FL and today I saw something that I could not believe with my own eyes... :eek :eek :eek :eek

Around 2:00pm, I was at the beach and I witnessed this a huge school of KINGS!! I mean there were just hundreds of them chasing huge greenbacks like jets!!! I occassionally heard those kings do come to the shores sometimes but I didnt know that many would show up that close to the shore!! I mean they weren't little either.

And shortly after about 30 mins later, a school of around 30-40 huge I mean just huge tarpons swam by literally right next to me chasing another school of greenbacks! I've never encoutered tarpons that close in entire my life.

After today, I realized it is time to get all my fishing gears out from my storaage and start to prepare for the Summer battles!! :rockon

If you want to catch those guys from the beach, better not wait until summer!

Yep
Kings migrate, and won't be there long. Better get on them like today. They are already killing them out of Steinhatchee, which is a bit early

Summer means night fishing. It will be hot enough on the boat deck to fry fish in july. Fish will move out deep as the water heats up.

I am down in Pine Island right now..... went out for 3 hours this morning...fish count so far....2 trout, 3 cats, 1 red, 1 mackerel, 1 jack and 1 shark....the bite is only going to get better this weekend as the full moon comes on. Wish the wind would die down though.

We tore them up today. 40+ trout along with some jacks, a stingray and some cats. Fished from 11 to 3 over the same flat all day into a sustained 20 knot wind, gusts up to 30 it seemed. Alot of short ones had to be thrown back, the only reason we stopped was because we ran out of beer and shrimp.
