tarpon in boca

Post by houseofmicah » Wed May 09, 2012 1:49 pm

Went down to boca this morning to try and catch some tarpon then hit the backwater for some light tackle action. First part of the trip went alright, got one to the boat before the sharks got ahold of it. my buddy kevin hooked up on this one. was able to get a couple shots before i had to wrangle the kids on the boat while we tried to evade and run over the hammerhead that was trying to have our catch for breakfast. the fish was around 150. unfortunately the capt, who is a friend of ours got a phone call that said his dad who is dying is back in the hospital, so understandably we headed in. my son was looking forward to catching some fish today, however he understood there is always next time and was a really good sport about it. my old camera was able to get one shot of the fish while in the air. got lucky. hopefully we will be back down in a few weeks to try it again.

That's a nice picture!
I've never fished for tarpon at Boca but used to fish for them a lot down in the lower Keys around bridges.

Yeah he passed on about a week and a half after this trip. He isn't suffering anymore and had a great life. Going back down a week from tomorrow. Can't wait!
