Mosquito lagoon?

Post by ryano022 » Tue Feb 12, 2013 11:20 pm

I use to live in Tampa and just recently moved back to Florida in Orlando. I've never fished mosquito lagoon and always heard bout it being the best place for reds and trout. I was wondering how is fishing there in a kayak? I've heard it's a very rough area and dangerous to fish out of kayaks there but then I've heard/read of people fishing in kayaks there, so I'm just trying to see what others have to say. If there are areas that are kayak friendly, where would y'all recommend to put in at? Not looking for "secret spots or honey holes", just looking for safe areas to paddle around and do some fishing!

The main boat activity there is in the channel from haulover north. There is a troll only zone there.

By boat is much more dangerous than a kayak if you do not know the area that well. I also like the Indian River, paddle south out of the Titusville ramp and try Peacocks Pocket or paddle north out of the Scottsmoor ramp and try the very north end. Either way get there early.
