Loosing Soft Plastic tails

Post by Gblack15 » Wed Jan 07, 2015 9:24 am

I have been hitting the canals in Cocoa Beach pretty hard for the last few weeks. Tossing DOA Cal shads with a 1/4 oz jig head, picking up dink trout but nothing to stretch a line. The problem is I am loosing a LOT of tails on the Cal shad and I am wondering if it is Muttons or blow fish and if I should try using a trailer hook. I appreciate any advice. I would also appreciate and ideas on finding some of the bigger fish.

Losing jig tails in saltwater is common. I would not use a trailer hook, just maybe go to a smaller tail
