PA TRIP THIS YEAR

Post by JBUG308 » Wed Jan 02, 2019 12:32 pm

Well, Blackpowderscout inspired me and I have to share my pics of our annual trip to PA this year. Out of 5 guys we took a total of 7 does. Weather started out great and got wet and sloppy by the time we left. Mid 20's upon arrival 1 week after Thanksgiving and mid 30's when we left 5 days later. We usually make the trip during the bow/muzzle loader combo week in October, but some in the group wanted to go up for regular rifle this year. No complaints from me. I brought home 2 deer - actually shot 3, but it ran in front of my friend who finished it off and we tagged it to give to an older gent who cant get out anymore. Didn't really see any big bucks (except at the processor). As with Blackpowderscout I used my one piece insulated coverall with hood (Cabelas) and was nice and cozy. The 2nd morning I just layered up and wore my regular jacket but took a thermos of coffee and my little heater to sit in the box blind. Good times.

You are absolutely right! I am hoping to get my son up there with us this year. It's a been a great experience for me every trip to just get away from the noise - try to listen to what God is telling me - and eat some good food. I love using the local butcher up there and going to the apple orchard to bring some home. I think my wife and boys look forward to that more than anything!

We are in WMU 2D area - I really like how they sell the doe tags online. I had 3 doe tags this year and was hoping to fill them all, but 2 was ok. Still haven't filled my buck tag in 10 trips! Not as many people in the woods as there used to be.
