Re: Aucilla Campgrounds

Also try J. R.s store. Its just east of the Aucilla river on 98. He does.nt really have a campground, but he might let you pitch a tent there.
If I remember right his number is 584-4595.

Re: Aucilla Campgrounds

Wakulla county has a campground at Newport about 10 miles east of Aucilla on US 98 just before the Saint Marks River. I don't know the prices etc. Look up Wakulla county and you can get the parks department. There is also a private campground off of SR 59 on Fanlew Rd. No info about it though. Hope ...

Re: I got an extremely intelligent Beagle yesterday

Pup is just right to start training. Get a dead rabbit, roadkill or otherwise, put the carcass on a string and drag it around in an open area (backyard if big enough, a pasture would be better). Don't let the dog see you doing this. Wait a little while and then walk the pup where she will cross the ...

Re: anyone live or fish near ochlockonee river

There is plenty of good fishing all up and down the river. The water depth varies considerably, mostly in the 10' to 15' range with shallows of 5' and holes over 30' deep. I fish mostly North of you in the areas around Wood Lake, Lake Sanborn and Hitchcock. Mostly bream and catfish, Specks school up...

Re: Poss new crossbow

I have been shooting my Horton 150 pd 20 inch for a couple of years now and I have been shooting Muzzy MX-3s the last year. What I did find interesting was that if I shoot Horton alum bolts with 100 grain pts the broadheads shot closer to the same as my practice points. When I tried carbon shafts wh...

Re: Gun hunting out of tree stand.

Summit makes a gun rest which attaches to a climber.
I have also used it on some other stands. Bought mine from Cabelas for like 35-40 bucks.
Works well and very stable.

Re: Maybe they shoulda bought a GPS

GPS doesn't help some folks. This week I was pulling out of camp when a Mercedes comes by on Fanlew grade ( two rut road). I told my buddy "that fool is lost" we caught up with him about a mile down the road stuck in the sand. He said "I don't understand. My GPS said this way would cut nine miles of...

I have no use for Scott either.
The new commisioner he appointed may not be bad for us though.
C.W. Roberts is a road building/paving contractor from Hosford (Liberty county). He is a hunter and fisherman like we are.

Re: iron clay peas???

If the deer don't mow them down, they will last til first frost. I planted some today along with a mix of rye, wheat and oats, and a mix of winter greens. Figure that I can sacrifice the peas for archery season. I have a place the bears have destroyed 3 feeders in 2 months. So my thinking is plant de...

Re: Northwest Bear Question

Bears like the same places deer like, edges of swampy areas, palmetto flats, big pines, Oak hammocks. Mostly they like any where there is feed. I was down at my lease at Fanlew today plowing for food plots. I saw bear tracks in a five acre field, big planted pines and a plot next to a swamp/sinkhole...

Yea, he is at Fanlew.
Killed a seven pt and an eight point there last year.
It will all be in the timing, but I enjoy targeting a particular one and pursuing him.
