Been there, done that. I wore put a paddle on a cottonmouth that tried to get in the boat one time. I won that battle ;-)

Bumped up next to a cypress tree once while checking a trot line, and a cottonmouth dropped into the jon boat! Luckily there was a seat between me and him, and I was able to use the paddle to flip him into the water. He was only about 4 feet long, but looked 20 while he was in the boat!
