Primitive Camping Trip
My wife and I took the godevil down the river the other day. We used a piece of canvas for the tent and constructed the ridge beam and side walls with trees and rope. It turned out real well. It was nice to get back out and chill out and do some fishing. We try to do these primitive trips as often as we can it keeps our survival skills up. It is also like doing inventory you know what equiptment you may need to replace. Here are a few pics of the trip.

Got something against a normal tent? You can't be too primitive camping being that you brought along Rubbermaid bins.

Very cool. My wife wouldn't be caught dead tenting even in the back yard. I have been into wilderness survival ever since I was in the boy scouts . in fact it was my only merit badge. I still keep up with it because you never know when its goin to come in handy.I have been teaching it to the kids at my church. Its alot of fun when they see you eat a grasshopper.

Re: Primitive Camping Trip
Looks like a fun trip! What river did y'all go down? Was the area you camped on public land? Love doing that sort of thing just getting harder and harder to find places that let you get truly wild. Most public lands down here make you use designated camping spots, can't cut any wood, no open fires, etc.

Re: Primitive Camping Trip
are marshmallows and hot dogs on a stick considered primitive? LOL, guess that leaves me out, also the 4x4,chainsaw propane light, stove and heater. may not be primative but it let me spend a lot more time hunting than doing camp chores.

Re: Primitive Camping Trip
Also primitive in that it's not a prepared camp site with grill, picnic table, water and toilets, etc.

Re: Primitive Camping Trip
Well it is primitive in a lot of ways and in some its not. We like to do things like that for one because we enjoy it another is it keeps us in check in case some thing ever happened and we were in a bad situation. We will take things that make us more comfortable as well. We have made vine baskets and shelters out of what could find and used them while we are out there. But those dang tupperware bens are the bomb for keeping stuff in. LOL. I think when it comes to surviving it is about being prepared mostly mentally. I thought my tent was a pretty good idea the canvas just replaced my deer hides I don't have done yet.
