I mixed some corn, grape jello, grape koolade and beer under my feeder yesterday. this am fresh rooting 50 yds away! got a close up of a rabbit under the feeder and a set of eyes where the rooting was. might be the hog or a yote eyeballing the rabbit, I'm guessing. can't tell.

usually when they are different colors like that it is from domestic hogs breeding with wild hogs. over the generations. sometimes it almost completely breeds out the wild ''piney wood rooter'' look in em. i've seen some pretty good lookin wild hogs. but at the end of the day theyre still wild. good to eat, but not near as tasty as my yorkshire cross pigs i raise.

especially those two little ones in the last pic. look at the short snout. piney wood rooters have long snouts.

There are no true wild boar, swine, pig in Florida. Hogs were brought here by the Spanish long ago. All hogs in Fl are either descended from them or escaped farm hogs. A "Piney Rooter" be any color, any snout length. Some have long manes and tails, some are bald, some are wooly. They are nothing but domestic hogs living in the wild for years and years.

Sorry but I have to politely disagree with u. Every "wild" hog I've killed has either been black with a long snout. Or some mixed color or that brownish red color. Seems to be when they are mixed color or some color other yhan black thhey usually have short snouts. I can tell u one think for sure. No fully domestic duroc, yorkshire, berkshire, hampshire, or landrace has a long snout. Just my opinion. Everyones entitled to one. :toast

Sorry big Jim,they're all from domestic stock in Fl. I've prolly killed around 175 of them from Myacka to the Panhandle.I even killed a bunch of black ones with waddles.Wild hogs are in Fl and all the Islands in the Caribean and Hawaii because of Spanish explorers and sailors. They were brought as a food source and released or escaped from them.Maybe the Spanish pigs had longer snouts I don't know. My last lease had grey and blue hogs, black ones with waddles, red spotted ones, red ones, white ones, tan ones, and even oreo looking ones. All hogs in Fl have either escaped or been released.

I know they were brought here by spanish explorers as a food source. I'm not arguing that fact
