Anyone ever use this deer processor?

Post by Kortsman » Sat Dec 01, 2012 5:23 pm

I didn't want to mess with grinding the two hams and single shoulder off the doe I shot last week so I took it to a place called The Hungry Gator Meat Market in Plant City. Anyone ever been there? I saw that they make sausage so I'm having them just do half smoked sausage w/ jalapeno & cheese and summer sausage with jalapeno & cheese. Their prices don't seem too bad considering the work it takes to grind, mix, buy casing and then stuff... Worth it to me since it was a small doe.

Here's their pricing list...

Let us know how they work out and if the sausage is any good.

the processor in palmetto charges by the deer, not the pound. i believe he is $60 per deer. he doesn't do the summer sausage or jalepeno and cheese stuffing. he does everything else though. that seems expensive to me.

your talking about the butchering of the deer, not sausage making like poster is looking to have done.

when it comes to sausage, jerky, hot sticks or what have you out of the 10 places i've been in during my life its been by the lb.

couldn't comment on the prices though, haven't shot a deer in 3 years

Not really think about so far this year i have processed my 5 and 4 for my friends + 7 hogs with there help of course. I have not started making any of there sausage or grind. When its time for that they come by and 3 of us will process a couple hundred pounds a case of beer and hopefully no fingers. It will take two days to do it proper grind mix package - let rest one day in frig- Then cook the summer type sausages. I have cured 10 hams so far well 2 are in the frig right now.

I just had some gator sausage from them up at camp.it was very good. the guys who brought it said they pay 70.00 a deer didn't matter what they wanted.
